Today, we are proud to announce the release of Syncovery 12 for Windows, our latest major version.
Syncovery 12 adds a wide range of new connectivity options, along with many practical improvements that make backups, synchronization, and cloud-to-cloud workflows even more flexible and reliable. A more detailed overview of all new features will follow soon, but here are some of the most important highlights:
- New internal SMB client: Syncovery can now connect to Windows network shares directly, without relying on Windows itself to manage the connection or store the credentials. This avoids several common Windows networking limitations, such as difficulties with multiple simultaneous connections to the same server using different accounts. It also makes it much easier to access network shares from a Windows service. Another important benefit is improved ransomware protection: Syncovery can know the credentials for your network backup location while Windows — and therefore other applications or malware — cannot use them.
- Rclone integration: Syncovery 12 includes and integrates Rclone, giving you access to many additional cloud storage services and connectivity options.
- Direct Azure File Shares support: Syncovery can now connect to Azure File Shares directly through the HTTPS REST API, without requiring UNC paths or Windows network drive connections.
- New cloud storage connectors: Version 12 adds direct connectivity for FileCloud, Filen.io, and Drime.
- iCloud support: Syncovery now supports both iCloud Drive and iCloud Photos.
- New fully integrated rsync connector: Syncovery 12 includes a completely re-written rsync connector, fully integrated into the program and requiring no external dependencies.
- Improved parallel copying: The number of files copied in parallel now has a new Automatic mode. It can also be adjusted while a job is already running.
- Better handling of disabled deletions: Syncovery now shows a clearer prompt and explanation when a profile reports the frequent “deletions disabled” status. The dialog can help you add the required deletion settings directly to the profile.
- S3 IAM Role support: Syncovery 12 supports S3 IAM Roles when running on EC2 instances.
- Free upgrade eligibility: Syncovery 12 is a free upgrade for licenses ordered on or after May 1st, 2025.
- Order Syncovery 12 licenses and upgrades now.
