Syncovery 12 includes a newly developed, fully integrated rsync connector. In the Internet or Cloud settings, you can select Rsync as an alternative to other protocols such as FTP and SSH/SFTP.

Syncovery can communicate with an rsync server via the SSH protocol, for example on port 22, or directly and unencrypted with an rsync daemon, usually on port 873.

You automatically benefit from block-level delta copying and save bandwidth. Rsync is very efficient, but it cannot move or rename files and folders. In particular, rsync’s fast recursive listing is a major advantage over some other protocols.

In some cases, however, it may still be better to use SFTP / SSH. It can also copy at block level and, if SSH shell commands are allowed, retrieve a recursive listing similar to rsync. The checkbox for recursive listing is located on the second tab of the Internet / Cloud dialog.

For more information about block-level copying with SFTP, please see the following page: Block-Level Copying

One current limitation of block-level copying with SFTP is that block-level copying is used only for uploads. With rsync, it works in both directions.
