Backup Software
Backup software for secure, reliable, and simple data storage. With our backup program, you’ll find the perfect solution for professional data protection.
The Best Backup Solution for Your Data
With our backup software, you can take advantage of block-level backups, which avoid saving entire files again. Instead, only the changed data blocks are copied. Alternatively, our backup tool supports synthetic backups, which combine block-level protection with versioning and compression. This speeds up the process and reduces storage space usage.
In addition, our backup program “Syncovery” focuses on complete data security. You can choose your preferred encryption methods — even encrypted filenames are supported. Secure transfer protocols ensure that your data remains protected during transmission.

Backup progress shown by Syncovery
Before we dive into the backup features, here’s what sets Syncovery apart from simpler backup programs:
- Block-Level and Synthetic Backups: Most standard backup tools don’t offer block-level transfers. Instead, they always overwrite the entire file. Our tool uses block-level backups that only replace the changed data blocks, saving storage space. You can also enable compression and versioning if you wish.
- Completely Flexible Storage Destinations: We cover everything — from local and external drives to NAS devices, network shares, FTP/SFTP, and WebDAV. On top of that, we support popular cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Unattended Mode: Let our backup software run quietly in the background or perform real-time backups. There’s even a fully unattended mode that operates completely automatically without any user input.
- Enterprise Features: Checksums, fast directory listings, and archive extraction are all easily handled by our tool. You can also take advantage of our Remote Service options, which speed up synchronization with remote systems — perfect for professional and enterprise environments.
You’ll find detailed explanations of our backup software’s features in the following sections.

Features of Our Backup Tool
Our software offers a wide range of features. In addition to classic automation and complete archiving, you’ll find several operation modes. Depending on the mode you choose, your data will be stored differently. Here’s how Syncovery helps you master data protection.
Server Backup
Backing up files on your server is no longer a problem with our tool. You can run backups completely unattended — using flexible schedules or manual starts. Only changed files are copied from the server, and for large files, only the modified blocks if you wish. This greatly speeds up the process. If needed, backups can also be encrypted and compressed at the same time, saving storage space while increasing security.
NAS Backup
A Network Attached Storage (NAS) device can serve as a central data hub. With a carefully configured NAS backup, data from your PC is securely transferred and stored. You can select exactly which files and folders should be included. Multithreaded file listings make it possible to handle millions of files and large data volumes quickly. The copying process also runs in parallel, ensuring fast performance. Filters and masks allow you to narrow down which files are backed up.
QNAP Backup
Our software also supports QNAP backups via standard protocols such as SMB, FTP, SFTP, or WebDAV. Since Syncovery allows you to keep multiple file versions, older data remains accessible. Additional security is provided through encryption, ensuring complete confidentiality and preventing unauthorized access to your data.
FTP Backup
When performing an FTP backup with our software, files can be uploaded or downloaded securely. They can even be PGP-encrypted or renamed automatically. In addition to FTP, Syncovery supports SFTP, SCP, FTPS, and WebDAV. These protocols are especially important for safe and reliable data transfers — ensuring encrypted, SSH-based communication and more.
Mac Backup
Using macOS? No problem — our backup software fully supports Mac backups. You can back up specific folders or your entire system. Store your backups on external drives, NAS devices, or in the cloud — always encrypted and compressed if needed. Real-time synchronization ensures your backups are fast and up to date.
Cloud Backup
Working with cloud storage? Then our cloud backup feature is perfect for you. It allows you to back up data from Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and more. Syncovery also supports SharePoint, Amazon S3, and Microsoft Azure. Backups can be written directly to the cloud, encrypted, and compressed on the fly — all automatically handled by our software.
Another major advantage is cloud-to-cloud backups. These are incredibly useful when switching providers — helping you prevent data loss during migration.

Questions About the Backup Program
You may already find the answer you’re looking for. Check out our FAQ section to learn more.
Is the backup software compatible with Windows 11?
Yes, absolutely. Syncovery runs smoothly on Windows 11 without any limitations. The only thing to note is which edition you choose — for example, the Standard Edition doesn’t include all features and may have some minor limitations.
Can I use the backup program on Linux?
Certainly. We offer a full-featured Linux version that runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. You can use it on server distributions as well as desktop Linux. The Linux version of Syncovery is configured through your web browser, which can run on the same system or a different desktop. All major protocols are supported. The built-in scheduler is especially valuable on Linux servers, as it works independently in the background — once set up, it runs reliably on its own.
Which backup tools can Syncovery replace?
Syncovery can replace many standard tools. Many of our customers have switched to us because other programs couldn’t meet their needs. For example, sync apps from cloud providers like Dropbox and Google Drive are very limited and inflexible — so replacing them with professional backup software makes sense. Even much more expensive software is often replaced by Syncovery, as it performs better in many areas and delivers more powerful, flexible results.
