Hi -
I have been using "SyncbackPro" for many years. Recently, I switched to Syncovery and find it excellent overall, though I have encountered a specific challenge. I am creating profiles for each game installed on my system, and I have configured Syncovery to back up the save files for each game, regardless of their location on my system (I set the 'source files' myself in each profile). Everything works seamlessly when the game folders are on a single drive. However, some games span across two drives, posing a challenge. I am struggling to configure a profile in Syncovery that scans and backs up folders/files from multiple drives in one profile. Previously, with SyncBackPro, I used a script named AllDrives, which allowed me to include multiple drives and paths for the source files. That Python script doesnt work in Syncovery...
In short, how can I configure Syncovery to use two drives as the source and one as the destination?
Here is an example of the source file locations I need to manage:
C:\Users\John\AppData\LocalLow\Game_Save_Dir_01
D:\Games_Install\Game_Misc_Files_Dir_02
Thank you for any insight
John

Help needed with multipule source locations
Re: Help needed with multipule source locations
Hello,
in most cases, I recommend creating separate jobs for separate source drives, and ensure that they have completely separate destination folders too, so they don't interfere with each other.
If you want to back up across multiple drives in a single job, you have at least two options:
a) create network shares for the drives or folders and use \\localhost as base path and choose the folders using the "Choose Folders and Files..." feature. If you use this, make sure to remove the checkmark "Automatically Add Future New Folders and Files to Selection".
b) create symbolic links to your folders, in dedicted parent folder that contains only these links. Let Syncovery follow the links (under Filters->General Filters).
If you prefer creating two or more jobs, you can schedule them independently, run them all at once, or chain them:

Re: Help needed with multipule source locations
Hi,
Thank you for your prompt and detailed response.
I appreciate your insights and recommendations on how to configure Syncovery for multiple source drives. Both options you suggested sound viable, and I'll explore them further to determine which suits my needs best.
Option A, creating network shares and using \\localhost as the base path, seems particularly interesting. I will follow your instructions carefully to ensure that the configuration is set up correctly.
Option B, using symbolic links, is also worth considering. I'll look into setting up a dedicated parent folder with symbolic links and adjusting the Syncovery settings accordingly.
Moreover, I'll keep in mind the possibility of creating separate jobs for different drives and explore the chaining method you provided in the documentation link.
Thank you once again for your support and guidance.
Best regards, John

Re: Help needed with multipule source locations
Hello,
thanks! I found another way. Easier than symbolic links (which have to be made with a command line tool), you can use regular Windows links (LNK files).
Just drag the folders you need to your links folder while pressing Shift+Ctrl.
In Syncovery, you can choose "Follow .lnk links" under "Filters" in the profile.

Re: Help needed with multipule source locations
Oh I was thinking of that also. Thank you though for pointing it out. Having a script (in SyncBakPro) that did it all for me was great, but I prefer Syncovery overall
Many thanks
John

Many thanks

Re: Help needed with multipule source locations
Hi John,
I’ve faced a similar issue when managing backups across multiple drives. Tobias’s suggestion of using .lnk files is excellent as it simplifies the setup without needing symbolic links or network shares. You can quickly organize the shortcuts into one folder and let Syncovery handle the rest
