This thread 'almost' answered my question but I'm not using versioning.
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=705&hilit=Delete+O ... ermanently
I have an app that downloads files but also deletes prior downloads without notice. Like an internal keep-at-most setting that I can't control. So I use Syncovery to mirror this folder to a backup location. Then I setup Move Deleted Files to move those into an Archive folder. This works nicely. I'm just wondering what Delete Older Versions Permanently does? I've unchecked it because I want any Left files that get deleted to be moved to Archive on the Right side and never deleted. I'll design another process later that deletes files from Archive that are older than XXX days. Not sure if that is something I can manage with Syncovery or not. I currently use xxcopy to manage a huge amount of video where I keep NN days close by and move older than that to another location and then actually delete footage older than NNN days from that other location.
From the help...

Move Deleted Files Into A Specified Folder...
This setting provides a more reliable alternative to the recycle bin. Rather than deleting files, they will be moved into a special folder which you specify. This setting works even with network drives or FTP servers.
Delete Older Versions Permanently
This setting causes older versions of deleted files to be removed from the destination

Delete Older Versions Permanently
Re: Delete Older Versions Permanently
Hello,
thanks for your post! Yes I would recommend keeping this checkmark unchecked, although it is not relevant for your use case.
"Older versions" in this case refers to Syncovery's own versioning system. So if you don't use Syncovery's versioning, then the option will not have any effect.
The option is meant for this case: a file is deleted from the source side that has multiple versions on the backup side, which are maintained by Syncovery. Then the question is whether all versions of this file should be moved into the folder for deleted files, or only the latest one - with the "older versions" being deleted permanently.

Re: Delete Older Versions Permanently
Thanks for the explanation! Made a note to read-up on Syncovery's versioning.
