GDrive Files Failing to Compress

Post by zerors »

Hi folks, I've enabled compression and encryption for my backups just recently and I've started running into the following issue:

Code: Select all

<file1.docx> (Source file size changed during compression at 0000000001901977.CP: TGGetOrPutEX:Source file size changed during compression)
<file2.xlsx> (Source file size changed during compression at 0000000001901977.CP: TGGetOrPutEX:Source file size changed during compression)
<file3.xlsx> (Source file size changed during compression at 0000000001901977.CP: TGGetOrPutEX:Source file size changed during compression)
The files in question are Google Drive files (I.e. Google Docs / Google Sheets) and I'm using Syncovery's feature where it exports those items as Word and Excel files.

It seems that when performing the export and then compressing it some file size validation gets tripped and causes those files not to synchronize.

So far the only solution I can think of would be to disable compression/encryption and re-upload all my files, however I'm looking at about 1TB of data to be reuploaded...

Please advise.

Hello,
thanks for the report. I will look into it. You don't have to re-copy anything.

So you are downloading from Google Drive and uploading to somewhere else? Please describe soure and destination.

Hi!

Thanks for looking into it!
I'm making a mirror copy of my entire GDrive onto a regular AWS' S3 bucket with no special settings.

No other special features are enabled for the sync aside a few ignore masks, compression and encryption as far as I remember.

Hello,
as an immediate solution, I recommend changing the compression format to Zip, at least for a few days, until a solution has been implemented for Sz in Syncovery.

It is totally fine if your backup contains a mix of Sz and Zip files. When restoring, Syncovery will recognize the format and decompressed them appropriately.

Changing the format will only affect files that still need to be copied. No files will be re-copied and it will not affect the existing Sz files in any way.

Ah perfect, it works!

Thanks!

Looking forward to when SZ is adjusted to support GDrive files.
