Why is it so slow to delete files?

I am syncing my Lightroom photo directories.
One directory is on an SSD drive, the other one is on an HDD drive on the same computer.
The sync needs to delete 37455 files from the HDD drive.
Only a few files can be deleted per second, and the whole deletion process takes more than 2 hours.

I am using version 8.69.
Are newer versions faster?

Hello,
you need to turn off using the Recycle Bin under Files->Deletions in the profile.

Large Recycle Bins can become quite slow on Windows. You should probably empty it too.
