SPO to SPO - preserve 'Modified By'

Post by Alice »

Hello there.

First of all, thank you again for 'fixing' :

SPO to SPO - preserve folder timestamps
viewforum.php?f=7&sid=93a7e09ea5d135b6dee5cb3c75284ab6

very impressive indeed.

Next on the 'wish list' would be to preserve the 'Modified By' status for each file and folder that is copied from one SPO Site to another so that they match, would that be possible please ?

If it is not possible, is there a way I can set the 'Modified By' status at the SPO Destination Site using a name of my choosing, eg a Service Account name.

At present Syncovery appears to be writing data at the SPO Destination Site using the 'Connected User' (ie the Global Admin that authorised the software in Entra ?) rather than the user that is running the Job (ie the 'Drive Owner') which isn't ideal....

Hello,
the Graph API does not allow setting "Modified by", so I do not see a way to do it.

Ok thank you very much for trying.

I did manage to resolve one aspect of my problem :

'At present Syncovery appears to be writing data at the SPO Destination Site using the 'Connected User' (ie the Global Admin that authorised the software in Entra ?) rather than the user that is running the Job (ie the 'Drive Owner') which isn't ideal....'

....so that was a result of my own lack of skill !

In the Syncovery 'Account Manager' dialogue when adding my Service Account, I needed to answer 'No' to the prompt :

--

'Would you like to use an Office 365 Admin account ?

This would enable Syncovery to list all Office 365 Groups.

If you are not an Admin, please reply "No". Syncovery will still be able to list groups that you are a member of.'

--

then I was able to write data with my Service Account as the 'Modified by' entry, as that Account is an SCA on the Destination SPO Site in question, rather than Syncovery writing data as the Global Admin used to register it....
