Hello community, I had the same issue with /root folder suddenly appearing.

I'm using multiple OneDrive Personal accounts to download data to my local disks. I thought this happend by accident, that Syncovery created a folder named "root" on my right side. All data have been downloaded twice, resulting in following folder structure.

Right:/MyOneDriveCopy/
---- Example.pdf
---- root /
-------- Example.pdf

I fixed this issue by adding "/root" to the profile's exclusion mask.

Root cause
This only happend to one of my OneDrive accounts, all other did not show a "root" folder. Maybe a coincidence that Microsoft is currently (since some months) migrating OneDrive accounts to a new storage architecture. This results in two different types of OneDrive Personal accounts, that might be limited in functionality. For instance, I cannot use OneDrive client on Windows/macOS, that is connected to an "old" account, to access a shared folder from a "new" account. The shared folder is presented as shortcut to the webpage.

This issue is described and discussed here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/off ... _shortcuts
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mso ... ebd039dd6d

You could check if your OneDrive account has been migrated to the new architecture by visiting https://onedrive.live.com/?v=managestorage and if you see "Search" on the bottom left nav this means you are on the older version.

My theory is, that once your accounts is migrated to the new architecture, the API will show the "root" folder.

So far, adding the exclusion mask solved this for me.
