Two-way sync doesn't delete

Post by ChaosX »

I set up a simple two-way sync between two Win 11 PCs with smart tracking, but deletions aren't processed. So I did this"

LS: left-side
RS: right-side

Created a task to mirror folderA on LS-PC to folderB on RS-PC
Ran task. Now both sides are the same.
Edited the task for 2-way sync:
Image
Ran Attended Mode. Nothing to be done. OK, that is expected.
Added text.txt file to RS-PC and ran attended mode. text.txt was copied to LS-PC. Again, OK
Deleted text.txt from LS-PC.
Ran Attended Mode. Nothing to be done. NOK, that is unexpected.

text.txt was not deleted on RS-PC. Why? Seems I'm overlooking something basic here.

Yes, the default SmartTracking action for deleted files is to ignore them. So you need to click the Configure button to specify what to do with deleted files.

Thank you. I had tried that button, but didn't realize there were tabs (they blended together on my screen).

Follow-up... is there a way to delete to the Recycle Bin on the local machine? I didn't see an easy way to select that.

Hello,
yes, to use the Recycle Bin, you would choose "Delete Permanently" on the SmartTracking dialog.

And then in the "Files" settings category, on the tab sheet "Deletions", you can enable the Recycle Bin (in fact it should be enabled by default for deleted files).
