Unable to backup forreign characters.

Post by darrenking »

I am running a FTP mirror backup, which is failing to copy foreign characters. For example when trying to copy Illégal.jpg to my NAS, I get the error 'Checkpoints: TGGetOrPutEX:550 normal_Illgal.jpg: No such file or directory'

I am using non secure FTP. I have tried 'Replace characters... (Automatic) and ASCII Transfer mode, which hasn't made any difference. I also used the 'replacechars' script.

Can anyone suggest something I can try, to get these special characters to copy over?

Thank you in advance.

You need to make sure that the FTP server supports Unicode and choose the character set: Unicode (UTF-8).

You should not need to replace characters, except if there are a few specific illegal characters.
