Hey,
Zip-encrypting large files on my macbook is quite performance heavy.
What is the experience of doing the encryption on synology devices?
These feature ARM or INTEL processors and usually little RAM .
Large files will quickly exceed the RAM capacity.
Thanks
Synology performance with ZIP-encryption
Re: Synology performance with ZIP-encryption
Hello,
much RAM is not needed for zipping or encrypting. But there will be a temporary file on the hard drive.
Most NAS devices have more than one CPU core. If you want to prevent using too much CPU, please make sure that the job copies only 1 file at a time.
In the profile under "Files", set the number of files to copy in parallel to 1.
