About Internet Protocol Settings

Hello.
I have a question about backing up to the box.
I'd like to specify the backup destination to box and set "Automatically resume incomplete transfers (using a temporary filename until complete)" in the Internet protocol settings.

How long will these settings continue to restart automatically if the backup fails? Will it continue until the backup is complete?

Thank you.

Hello,
if you are talking about the box.com cloud storage service, then this checkmark actually doesn't have any effect, because interrupted transfers are automatically resumed and re-tried in a very thorough way. Yes it will continue until the backup is complete.

But if there is a complete drop of Internet connection for a long time, eventually the job may stop and you need to start it again. It will continue where it left off, except for incompletely copied large files, which have to be started over.

To make it even more robust, you can use the settings under
"Access & Retries" -> "Waiting and Retrying"

For example:
Re-run profile if an error occurs while
X building the file list, and X running the profile

Maximum Re-Runs: 5

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I'd like to make the setting as robust as possible, so I will set "Waiting and Retrying".

Your answer has always helped me.
Thank you so much.

I have an additional question about the box.com cloud.

Does Syncovery consume box.com cloud API calls?

The method of specifying the box.com cloud will be set by selecting box from the Internet Protocol Settings, but there is a possibility to specify box drive as the destination directly.

Thank you.

Hello,
if you choose Box on the Internet dialog, then it will use the box.com API using HTTP requests.

If you specify a local path to the Box drive letter, then it's just a local copy and the Box software does the cloud sync.
