Prevent Notebook from sleep during backup?

Post by Nei »

Hi there,
perhaps I did not look carefully enough but where do I find a setting like "Prevent notebook from sleep during backup"? The use case is indeed to prevent laptops from sleeping while they do a rather lengthy backup job to a cloud back-end.
Thanks in advance,
Nei

Hi there,
as a workaround something like this might help. It is a combination of a script and a power plan on Windows: How do I disable sleep mode (windows 7) when a specific program is running?

i set up separate power plan, "ALWAYS ON". when doing critical backups, I bring up power plans, CHECK on the "ALWAYS ON", and LEAVE THAT WINDOW at forefront while running, so i remember to turn it back to the normal power plan when done.

SECOND OPTION,
program called AllOff
https://www.winsite.com/Utilities/Disk- ... es/AllOff/ (NOTE - I cannot vouch for this site, it is just one link tha tmemtions the program.
the program has not been changed since year 2013, but the program itself does work.
it puts computer to sleep after so many seconds of INactivity of keyboard and/or mouse, or time.
SO, I set an ALWAYS ON power plan, but have AllOff runing in background, for normal operation, to HIBERNATE after about 45 minutes.
BUT,when running syncovery, or others, I turn OFF AllOff.
i then have a batch file that restarts it next time after computer restart, etc. (
not a perfect solution, but it does work
