Copying conundrum

Post by » by »

My disk imaging scheme involves creating full disk images followed by some number of differential images. The images are all saved on a HDD, but I'd like to copy the full images (and not the smaller differential images) to a spare SSD that I have.

To be clear, the SSD would only be used as a secondary backup of the image files. The SSD is only large enough to contain one full image at a time.

So for example, my full list of images on the primary backup HDD might be:

2022-01-05@2002--------Full.#0
2022-01-05@2002--------Full.#_#
2022-01-05@2002--------Full.TBI
2022-01-09@1133.#0
2022-01-09@1133.#_#
2022-01-09@1133.TBI
2022-01-12@0840--------Full.#0
2022-01-12@0840--------Full.#_#
2022-01-12@0840--------Full.TBI
2022-01-16@1113.#0
2022-01-16@1113.#_#
2022-01-16@1113.TBI
2022-01-19@1002.#0
2022-01-19@1002.#_#
2022-01-19@1002.TBI

I'm interested in storing only the latest "20*---Full.*" files on the SSD in question.

Is there a way to configure a Syncovery profile so that it always deletes the old/existing "20*---Full.*" files on the SSD, and then copies the latest ones of the same mask?

Is this question just too stupid?

OK, I don't think that Syncovery can do this.

Hello,
sorry for the delay. It is a complicated requirement.

Syncovery could do it with a custom PascalScript. Please see
https://www.syncovery.com/pascalscript/

It would probably be necessary to extend the PascalScript language slightly for this requirement. To get the solution, you will probably need to order at least one month of our Premium Support offering:
