Concatenate Left-Side Folders

Post by RoyReddy »

I am wondering whether Syncovery has a syntax to take several Left-Side Folders and concatenate them into the Right-side

Left: FldrA\Files2019; FldrB\Files2020; FldrC\2019

thanks

What would the right side look like? Please describe it in more detail.

For example, what I need to know is:
- will there be any subfolders at all on the right-hand side?
- is this a one-time or repeated job?
- are files going to be deleted too, and do the deletions have to be reflected on the destination?

etc.

More details please!

Thanks.

I appreciate your response. Mostly I was expecting "nah it cannot" -> create 3 profiles

OK I will provide more

In a Single Job Profile
Left:
Drive A:\APC\Catlg\Catalog file < Include *
Drive A:\APC\Catlg\Zips; folder < Include *

Drive A:\APC\Catlg\Previews; folder <Not Include
Drive A:\APC\Catlg\Index; folder <Not Include

Drive X:\APC\Photos; folder < Include *

Right:
APC\Catlg\Catalog *
APC\Catlg\Zips *
APC\Photos\ *

Scenario A. is Photo catalog folder that contains Original contents and Generated contents. The original are the Photos and the Catalog file, the Generate is a folder full of thumbnail images.
The Generated content does not require backup as it can be easily generated as required.

cheers Roy

Hello,
many thanks. Yes I think you will need more than one profile, but maybe not three.

A settings that Syncovery has is: "Flat right side (no folders)". This is on the Folders tab sheet. It can be useful when collecting files from multiple subfolders and putting them all in the same folder on the destination side.

I still don't fully understand your source and destination folder structures, but maybe this option can be useful.

But creating multiple profiles is probably a good idea. You just need to be careful and make sure that profiles don't delete each others files from the destination. This could happen if you use Exact Mirror and multiple profiles have the same destination folder. You could possibly prevent it with Exclusion Masks set to "Ignore totally". Exclusion Masks can also contain folder names such as Previews or Photos.
