Versioning

Post by Knarf »

Here:
https://www.syncovery.com/versioning/

it says:

To use it, choose Keep multiple versions… on the More tab

Is that in Versioning, More ? I cant find it...

I'm receiving a certain file on a daily basis via a ftp server.
Everyday the same name.
I'd like to add a datetime to the filename if a new file is being downloaded from the right side.

tnx

Hello,

I just saw that the page was outdated. I have now corrected it. All relevant settings are on the "Versioning" tab sheet.

In general, you can use "Filename Encoding" from the Versioning tab sheet if you want to add the timestamp to all files. But then you need to copy from left to right. There is a little link "switch sides" near the top of the dialog.

The other method is to just choose "Keep Older Versions" as well as "Add Timestamp" near the right of the Versioning tab sheet. This method will leave the newest file as it is and rename only the older versions. It should work with both copying directions left to right and right to left.

great.
I've set 1000 per file. So each time the original file (with the same name) is downloaded and the contents have changed,
it will download and put the existing file in the Older folder

Hi,
you might not need the checkmark "Filename Encoding" though. Please try with and without and see if it works as expected.
